How This AI Tool Simplifies the Renting Process Looking for a streamlined way to rent, buy or list property? Rentberry's platform uses AI to make things easier for tenants, owners and landlords. Carly Quellman Contributor Carly Quellman, aka Carly Que, is a multimedia strategist and storyteller at the intersection of technology and the humanities, investigating how perspective can enhance, rather than overstimulate, the world. She can be found online and near the closest south-facing window in Los Angeles. 4 min read Peter Dazeley / Getty Images After deciding to move -- yet again -- in hopes of finding a home that better suits my needs and desire for space, I wanted to navigate new platforms that could support my search, instead of falling back on all the old rental apps . I was looking for something to ease the stress of moving -- ideally using artificial intelligence to simplify the housing search. During my search, I found Rentberry, which I initially gravitated towards for its bright user experience design and simplified desktop functionality. What is Rentberry, and how does it use AI? Rentberry is a home rental platform for tenants and landlords founded in 2015 aimed at streamlining the long-term rental process with a more efficient, transparent model that positions landlords and tenants together. The platform offers rental listings in over 60 countries (though its rent collection feature is only available where its payment partner, Stripe, operates, in 44 countries). Rentberry uses AI across three areas of its business: Tenant screening: to analyze rental applications (credit reports, social media data and rental history). AI-generated property descriptions: an AI-powered description generator that assists landlords by highlighting key features and amenities. AI-powered matching: a feature to recommend properties that match your specific preferences, including budget, location, amenities and desired features. Like other generative AI platforms, it adapts to your input over time. In the time I've spent living in two major cities, I've become acquainted with nine different search platforms and apps when looking for housing. Now that I'm reentering the market, I don't really know where to start. But given how much AI has helped me streamline other tasks, I figured combining it with Rentberry's thoughtful design and user experience was worth a try. How to use Rentberry AI for your home search A search of rental properties in Los Angeles. Rentberry / Screenshot by CNET This is how to set up and use Rentberry as either a tenant or landlord: First, download the Rentberry app (available on iOS or Google Play ), or continue on to the website. Once on your desired platform, sign up with an email address or Google or Facebook account. If you already have an account, log in using your credentials. Time to set up your profile. This looks a bit different depending on whether you're a tenant or landlord. For tenants: you'll be prompted to provide details like name, number, email address and a profile picture for credibility. For landlords: you can provide property details, a rent amount and details about viewing the property. There's also space to upload documents like an agreement or proof of ownership (also for credibility purposes). Time to search. As a tenant, enter your desired location, budget, number of rooms and other preferences -- like pet-friendly, furnished or desired amenities. Rentberry uses AI algorithms to recommend properties that match your specific preferences, including budget, location, amenities and other features. When you've found a rental you like, Rentberry's AI can analyze your profile and automatically match it to suitable rental listings, allowing you to instantly apply for properties that are more likely to meet the landlord's criteria. I appreciated how it gave me time back during the search, so I could focus on the daunting process of applying for a place. Rentberry's AI helps here by evaluating your application details and sharing the chance of being accepted by landlords -- plus suggestions for application improvement. Rentberry also offers a robust Help Center , with articles on using the app for automatic rental payments and tenant or landlord needs. I found this helpful to better understand what issues past users have run into and for tips for using AI as part of the process, like how to list a property on its platform. Should you use Rentberry? Anyone who is tech-savvy can benefit from Rentberry. If you're a millennial or Gen Z tenant -- specifically in fast-paced rental markets -- its AI-powered property matching and personalized alerts can save you time and stress. Property owners and landlords who want to streamline the rental process will likely find Rentberry valuable, too (again, if they'retech-savvy), particularly its automated lease agreements and built-in tenant screening tools (just make sure to double-check everything). While not a primary focus, I can even see real estate agents who focus on rental properties leveraging Rentberry as a tech-forward service that caters to modern expectations. However, traditional renters or landlords who prefer more hands-on, in-person interactions might not feel as comfortable with Rentberry's digital approach. As someone who got comfortable with technology through repetition, I'd say Rentberry has a bit of a learning curve for those who don't use tech regularly. Here's why: The platform thrives on automation, with AI analyzing everything from lease terms to payment reminders -- Rentberry's differentiator from its competitors is AI. While you don't have to completely understand its functionality to benefit from its experience, generative technology moves fast. Rentberry focuses on more than browsing or listing, as it supports faster, more efficient decisions. What I took away from my search is that Rentberry's AI works like a matchmaker to connect tenants to listings and landlords to tenants. It uses generative technology to simplify the process and bundle features within one space. If you crave a smarter, faster and simpler way to find housing, this is a great tool. It points to the future of the market, offering customization and AI-powered support. Your guide
