Deel rolls out payroll & AI upgrades for Aussie firms worldwide

Jul 11, 2025

Today Deel has announced a suite of updates to its global payroll and HR platform, enhancing pay flexibility, AI tools, and global hiring capabilities for businesses operating in Australia and worldwide. The upgrades, delivered as part of the company's quarterly product release known as The Deel Drop: Summer Edition, introduce more than 500 improvements across onboarding, payroll, HRIS, and client experience functions. The updates are designed to streamline everyday activities for internationally distributed workforces, and embed artificial intelligence throughout core processes. Pay flexibility One of the headline features is "Anytime Pay", allowing eligible employees working under Employer of Record (EOR) arrangements to access a portion of earned wages before their official payday. This on-demand wage access is being made available commission-free in Australia, with automatic deductions and no operational changes required for payroll teams. Additional financial management tools include both virtual and physical expense cards for EOR employees across more than 130 countries, aimed at providing secure access to company funds with spend controls. Payroll administrators also gain more control through a new self-serve payroll calendar, and employees will see redesigned payslips providing clearer pay run breakdowns. Commenting on the new features, Alex Bouaziz, Co-Founder and CEO of Deel, said: "Deel is evolving into the infrastructure layer for global workforce operations. This latest product drop was all about listening to customers and removing friction, whether you're planning a hire in Brazil, running compensation reviews in Berlin, or onboarding a contractor in Nairobi, Deel understands what you need next. We're building the system of record for modern teams." Shannon Karaka, Country Lead for Australia and New Zealand at Deel, highlighted the relevance of these upgrades for Australian businesses seeking to compete in the global talent market. "Australian businesses have the global talent pool at their fingertips. Gone are the days that local businesses were disadvantaged by the tyranny of distance." "The companies that can see the benefits of tapping into international talent pools will reap the benefits, not only in being able to attract a whole new cohort of staff, but by ensuring their workplace is at the cutting edge of innovation and efficiency. This is exactly what we mean by 'the future of work' – but the future is available right now," Mr Karaka said. AI-driven support and compliance The platform's new AI-powered tools are designed to improve productivity and compliance. A visa eligibility tool helps companies quickly assess work permit options in over 50 countries, while global hiring insights provide customers with ranked country recommendations based on time zone compatibility, cost, and regulatory complexity. Workforce scenario planning capabilities enable organisations to model growth and hiring options based on varying budgets, regions, or business objectives. Salary planning features allow for compliant, global review cycles with built-in controls and manager approvals. To support users, Deel has embedded a knowledge hub offering guidance for processes in over 150 countries, and introduced more than 200 in-product walkthroughs to provide step-by-step assistance for complex tasks. A unified support inbox also enables HR, finance teams, and employees to manage support queries in one central location. Growth and mission Deel reported a USD $1 billion annual revenue run rate in the first quarter of 2025 and states that its platform now serves over 35,000 businesses globally, processing more than USD $11 billion in annual payroll. The company's stated mission is to build what it describes as the most unified platform for managing global employment and payroll. The company's latest release continues its focus on reducing administrative overhead and improving the clarity and flexibility of international workforce management. As the competitive landscape for talent expands, these features are being positioned as responses to shifting expectations among both employees and employers. Follow us on:
